A Taste of the Solomons 1 – Guadalcanal & Rennell

This short tour splits its time between Rennell Island and the area around Honiara on Guadalcanal. Rennell, the largest raised atoll in the world, is home to 43 breeding bird species, including 6 endemics, and 11 bat species, one of which is endemic. Extra days can easily be added to explore either location further. Lake Tegano, in eastern Rennell, was the atoll’s former lagoon and contains numerous islands. On Guadalcanal, Mt Austen is easily accessible via local roads and is well worth multiple visits for its rewarding birding opportunities.

This 6 day tour involves flights in small aeroplanes.

All our bird tours are run in collaboration with Sicklebill Safaris, our trusted partners in delivering world-class birding across the Solomon Islands. For more information about this tour, please contact Sue, Phil or Rowan at info@s2travel.com.au
